After a near fatal run- in with bacterial meningitis, Andrea “Drey” Mingo, who is the founder of Sounds of Serenity Inc. knew her life would never be the same. After awaking in intensive care unit of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, IN with no hearing due to complications of the illness that almost took her life, she would have to take on the new challenge of living her life without sound. Initially, due to inner ear cochlear damage, she was told that her hearing would most likely never return, but faith, love and countless prayers from both loved ones and strangers alike kept her spirits lifted. Having stood by her faith, since, she has regained a good portion of her hearing in one of her ears, and now wears hearing aids to help her as well.

Because of this life changing event in her life, and through her personal trials with regaining confidence after losing her hearing, she has dedicated her life to others who have also been affected by hearing loss. Wearing her faith in Christ on her shoulder, she is determined to make the most out of the second chance at life that she has been given through service to others.
